Our Programs
2-Week Intensive Manga Course in Tokyo
This program is 2 weeks long. Students would be learning in a class of only 2-4 students. It is packed with hands-on practise and demonstrations from professional manga artists to hone your manga-crafting skills, all a while experiencing local Japanese life in Tokyo.

Private Intensive Manga Program
This program varies from 2 to 3 weeks. Student will be learning 1-on-1 in a Private Class. This is the ideal workshop-style learning environment, where you are free to ask questions and receive supports and demonstrations from the professional manga artists every time you need it.
Online Japanese Language Classes
The Japan Study Abroad Network is proudly offering quality private Japanese language lessons online now. Throughout our online Japanese language courses, you will have a great opportunity to learn the language with our experienced instructors without leaving your home!

When to apply
The academic year for Most schools in Japan, from High schools to Universities, starts from April. Then, there are few more intakes, July, October and January.If you are planning to take academic courses, please plan ahead! However, some of our partner institutions have special courses for international students starting from September.
For short-term programs, as long as we have space for you, you can always get a seat. But don’t forget: most of the cases spaces are limited. Especially for our popular programs!! So, don’t wait to ask us first to save your seat!!!
Preparations
Language It would definitely be better to know basic Japanese, especially if you are planning on staying in a localized area. If you have zero knowledge of Japanese, please don’t panic!! We will advise you what to do. Visa If you are from one of visa waver countries, and planning to come to Japan shorter than 90 days, you will not need to apply for study permit. For those who will stay longer than 90 days, we recommend you to start your application at least 6 months advance. Accomodation Whether students’ dorms, shared houses, apartments or hotels, depending on your budget and situation, we will help you. Costs A 1-year study program at a high school is roughly 800,000yen/year. Universities are from 150,000 to 200,000yen/year. Living costs depend on where you want to live. For big cities like Tokyo, you will need 15,000 to 20,000yen per month, if you go to a local area, you may be able to save more money.

Manga Program at Tokiwaso
Become a PRO Mangaka in Japan with the Global Tokiwaso Project!
Global Tokiwaso Project
Be a resident at our new “Global TOKIWASO Residence for Foreigners” and live with other aspiring artists from around the world. You will receive on-going support until you get published! We aim to gather talented people from all around the world, and guide them through the manga industry in Japan
- Technical skill building (including developing your own style)
- A specialized teacher will be in charge of guiding you to plan your concept, characters, scenarios, and story.
- Our debut support includes regular consultation with a manga editor who works for the world-wide famous Shounen Jump Magazine.
*Translation support is also included
- REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY (Click here!)
- Be at least 18 years old *if you are under 18, please inquire
- You will need to stay at our share-house for at least 3 months
- You’ll need to submit your portfolio
- In the case of a manga, you will need to submit at least an 18-page manga
- For people submitting a light novel, 5000 words will be the minimum required
- For people who use webtoon, at least one completed work should be submitted

Once you become a part of our Global Tokiwaso Project, every three months, our team of manga experts will assess the development of your project and determine your eligibility to continue enjoying the benefits of our residency, with the ongoing support of our dedicated teachers.
In case the experts think you are not on a good path, you will be asked to leave the residency.
